The weekend

The Garden was rocking last night.

Even with Steven Tyler's terrible performance of the National Anthem. Where the hell was Rene??

After some persuasion from my fellow Bruins fans, I will be posting some Bruins game recaps but only to the games that I actually attend. I will not be doing this for games I watch at the bar or while my fat ass is on the couch. Agreed? Good!

Since DJ's is now North Star and none of our friends work there we were on a search for a new pregame hang out. We started off at Beer works - nah not really feeling it. We moved along to Sullys Tap, which coincidentally recently received a Best of Boston award for Best Bruins pregame. The crowd was a mixture of suits and B's fans. I have always held a soft spot for Sullys because they used to have the cheapest beers around. Now just like everyone else they rape you on beer prices. Rio, Big Bob, Paget(or is it Patches), Albie and Big John Manning were all trying North Star out so we headed over there. They slapped some paint on the walls and hired some new waitresses and bartenders but overall its the same joint just worse. The bar was crowded and the staff were overwhelmed. Maybe they will work the kinks out but don't hold your breath.

A buddy of mine listens to Carson & Kennedy in the morning and all he kept telling me was Kennedy will be at the Greatest bar. Well we didn't make it to the Greatest but to the delight of my buddy Kennedy was spotted on the escalator. It was free schedule magnet night, MikeyT got 5.

There was a general excitement in the air at the game. People were talking/arguing the finer points of the team - Tuukka or Thomas, is Jordan Caron's last name pronounced - Karen or Cah-ron, Asparagus or Artichoke, How good will Seguin be, and is Nathan Horton for real.
Needless to say I had a great time.
MikeyT called Caron's goal before the tip off.
I still have not met the guy who owns the seats next to ours.
Alex is back slinging drinks and hitting on white women.
Plus I was not in our seats for any of the goals but I did see 3 of the 4. Goal 1 - in beer line(saw on monitor), Goal 2 - stuck on the ramp to get back to the seats(saw it on the jumbotron), Goal 3 - drinking at the table waiting on the boys(saw it on NESN) and Goal 4 - in the bathroom. So now the whole section thinks I am a goal mush. They could be right.

The game was terrific. I didn't think we would beat the Caps in back to back games. If the B's can keep up this intensity it will be a great year. Nothing short of a Stanley Cup appearance is in order.

Hopefully next game we will have a better pregame experience.

*Quick side note - I usually catch at least one Caps game a year but this year there were tons of Russians in the crowd to see Ovie but mostly wearing B's gear. There were Canadian Russians at Sullys Tap and one of them was a Bizzaro Smiddy.

Now it is onto the weekend kick off. Chrissy asked for Alyssa Milano so that is who we got. If you want to kick off the weekend with someone let me know.

3rd annual street hockey game...

The 3rd annual STREET(not ice or roller) hockey game will be Saturday December 11th at noon. Same rink as last year at Hockeytown. Followed by Kowloon and the Golden Banana.
All are welcome. Last year there were 19 of us to play hockey and 11 of us at the Banana. I hope we have more this year. Every year people say they are coming and don't show. The Prez' son scored last year for gods sake!

Let me know if you are in or not.

Who will challenge last years MVP Welchie, for this years hardware? I believe he has a score to settle with a youngin who took him out.

Week 7...another New Sheriff in town

From the desk of TMX a fantasy football reporting source with a loose affiliation with folan.com( the number 11 ranked website on the www's).......

In an effort to fill the void of the Iggles weekley review TMX will now write a fantasy review based only on who finished in last. TMX is COMMITTED to 30% honesty in all its reporting and this review will be no different we will not compromise our committement to honesty. We will only attempt to assist the team that came in last and at times it may seem harsh but the world is harsh. I believe it was rap superstars naughty by nature that said and we are quoting " if you dont understand fantasy, dont play fantasy, stay the eff away from fantasy" In other words if you dont play or want to read the following skip it.

This weeks last place team was BOBBY BROWNS OTHER KID: It almost is unimaginable how a team with such a team name could be last in anything but it happened. The kid put up a whopping 69 points this week. The breakdown is as follows- Jay Cutler 12pts; Newly Acquired BenJarvis Green-Ellis- 8pts; Shady Mccoy 10pts; Miles Austin 2pts; Reggie Wayne 10pts; Celek 6pts; Folk 7pts and Vikings D 14pts.

TMX recommendations for this last place finish is obvious- WAIVER WIRE! The browns just got lazy here like when Bobby Brown was on the VH1 hit show FIT CLUB. Traded Mike Wallace a key reserve for ben jarvis green ellis rather than scouring the wire ( Chris Ivory 21.5pts) and saving a valuable trade piece. The browns are stacked at wr and other teams are hurting. He also could have grabbed a better qb like Kevin Kolb ( aside from killing desean jackson) has alot of weapons and is far more consistent than jay cutler. TMX not only recommends it also goes above and beyond. We took it upon ourselves to contact Tony "holy" Romo and ask him why Miles Austin only had 2pts. Mr Romo responded with this " they called back a huge td and after that i didnt trust "the man" to not continue to hold us down so i was forced to look elsewhere" TMX said do you realize bobbybrowns other kid needed a big day and Mr. Romo responded " oh really? tell the (expletive) not to start the (expletive) vikings defense against me then, kid got what he deserved" So i guess that sums it up.

In closing bobbybrowns other kid is currently comfortably in 6th place with the byes behind him so he should be fine and in TMX view you are already a winner because you didnt take your ball and go home like Iggles who QUIT the league so keep you head up and go get 'em this week.

TMX reminds you- FOLAN.COM for everything

No way

I don’t know of anyone who could eat this:

Big Fat Ugly (with mayo and ketchup) $25.00

2 Rolls, 4 Cheeseburgers, Double Cheesesteak, Chicken Cheesesteak, Gyro Meat, Grilled Chicken, Bacon, Sausage, Mozzarella Sticks, Chicken Fingers, Chicken Nuggets, Mac N Cheese Bites, Fried Mushrooms, Jalapeño Poppers, Pizza Bites, Onion Rings, Hash Browns, American Cheese, Mayo, Ketchup and French Fries.

If you can pound one in under 15 minutes you eat for free!

I am really happy that this place is out in Illinois because I am sure Pete Johnson, Chrissy and Ferlauto will all go at this thing. The thing is as big as a fucking football. I couldn't eat this thing in a week let alone 15 minutes.
(Big Fat Ugly what the hell kind of name for a sandwich is that? Reminds me of some of my friends ex ladys - you know who you are. I don't want to out no one on blast).

Darts Update Week # 7

Tonight was the most bizarre night I have ever experienced in my 20+ years of playing darts. Yes that makes me an old bastard so tell me something I don’t know. Whatever could of happened tonight did. We had Double Bull outs. Guys throwing 140’s and losing their game. Multiple single digit throws in ’01 games. Broads trying to steal guys from our team to play on their last place team 15 minutes before the match. Guys from the opposing team trying to defect and join our team during the match. Some random bagpipe player busting out a few tunes, and way too many other strange things to mention. The thing I will remember from this night full of BS was that the other team loved running up points in the cricket matches. Anyone that follows this blog, knows we do not play well against teams that like to point and it really pisses me off. All I can say is that the rematch in week 14 is gonna be a night to look forward to!

First let me give a sarcastic shout out to the fans that were all talk and no action this week. After coming home to an e-mail inbox full with e-mails from guys talking about playing for the team, I was looking forward to having a few beers with some potential future DTFers. Not one of them decided to come out and support the team. Yes I mean you, Newcomb, Sassi, Mike T., Chrissy, Mario, Claydon, and others…The rest of you know who you are!

With all of that said, let me move from the ranting to the match details:
We began the week tied for 3rd with 33 points. Our division is really tightening up with the 3rd thru 6th place teams all within 3 points of each other. It is going to be a grind to make the playoffs. We played against the 5th place team and were lucky to come out with a win to close out the first half of the season.
601’s - Started with a loss and won game 2 (1-1)
Cricket - Won game 1 and lost the next 2 (1-2)
301’s - Won games 1, 2, 4, and 6 and lost 3 & 5 (4-2)
Overall = 6-5 win

Supa P made his bid for The Shot of The Year and continued the team’s weekly streak of finishing games with a DOUBLE BULL. He ended a 301 game by closing out an 87 hitting 17, 20, DOUBLE BULL. I hate to say it, but we have all seen this act before so you better come with something really special if you want to compete for TSOTY. Both Rookie of the Year candidates stumbled so neither gained any ground in that competition. Mark W. and Jeff went undefeated tonight which I guess is easy when you don’t play. CBV, Bright and Barry were told to put away the sharp objects and go to bed. Derek continued his quest for the MVP stepping up again for another big win. Jeb and I were solid as usual.

A few quotes made the night fun and if you were not there, you might not find them as funny as I did. I know one-liners are usually all about the context so I will try to explain.
“Keep eating and keep your mouth full”, said by many. (Attempts to shut up the multiple fools from the other team talking way too much and trying to ruin our fun).
“He must have been thinking of a 82, 82, 82 – 246 out” (Reference to the poor bastard that I played in 301 who was fittingly nicknamed Rain Man by Barry) This guy showed up 5 minutes late for the last match of the night and then had the balls to order food and make me wait to play him. Justice was served as I took him down in the final match and Bright and Barry helped themselves to his fries every time he stepped to the line.

Next week we are heading to the smokiest bar in the Northeast known as the St. Marks Post who were tied with us in the standings heading into the week. They had a game in hand so they are probably 6-8 points ahead. We will need to have another great week to keep our playoff hopes alive.

‘til next week Bitches,
Prez.

Monday Monday Monday

I love this weather. I wish it was 55-72 year round. Rolling in jeans, t-shirts and sweat shirts 24/7.

Lets see what could I of learned this weekend:
1. Someone told me - You see a Folan you punch a Folan.
2. Jambalaya is not for me. Maybe I didn't make it spicy enough. I just didn't get it.
3. Raking leaves blows.
4. Windy City Eats is legit.
5. The Fours in Quincy is still the Thursday night spot. They still got bomb ass beef stew.
6. The Braintree dump is nasty and gross and just plain disgusting.
7. I think that Stop & Shop may have better steak tips than Roxies.
8. I love the Sunday Supper club. You never know who is going to show up.
9. The new Bruins $5 tickets are better than the old $2 tickets. I have won more than I have lost on them.
10. Forgetting to properly fill out your football card properly is embarrassing and sucky all rolled into one. How could I forget to fill out the stub?
11. We need more Marylou's News! ASAP!
12. Breakfast should never be $26.00 for 2 people unless its some sort of all you can eat brunch. French toast and an omlette with a juice and hot chocolate - I THINK NOT.
13. Nathan Horton is the real deal.

Have a nice week. Hope to see some of you at the Bruins game this Thursday.
R.I.P team Iggles. It was a nice run. You can always GM for MFNMP.

Molly Sims

Lets kick off the weekend with Molly Sims. A good friend of mine once said "the downfall of any man is pussy and money...in that order". I think he was talking about Molly Sims.

If Molly comes calling before November 27th...I am available. IM JUST SAYING!

Darts Update Week # 6

As we are about to reach the halfway point of the season, things are starting to look good for the squad. We had a solid showing of players with 8 and we were playing the last place team in an "away" match at Peggy's. Some of the matches looked easy on paper, but proved to be tougher than we thought. Although we missed few opportunities, we came out with a nice 8-3 victory which should move us right back into the playoff picture.

Breakdown of the matches:
Lost the 1st 601, Won the 2nd. (1-1)
Won the 1st and 3rd cricket and lost the middle game. (2-1)
Lost the 1st 301 and swept the next 5. (5-1)

DW made his bid for "The Shot of The Year" with his finish in the 1st game of his 301 match. He was sitting on 89 with his opponent shooting at double 1 to end it. He stepped up, called his shot and hit 19, 20 and DOUBLE CORK! It is stuff like this that creates legends (think Babe Ruth). I think the early leader for the honor of SOTY still goes to "Sean Larry" for closing a very close cricket game with a three dart out hitting Bull, DOUBLE BULL, and a 16!

While he might be second in the shot of the year, as a consolation I'll give him first place for the line of the night with "Damn man, I can't be on charge of buying all the beers and distributing them and the music as well." I gotta give the man credit, I don't think anyone waited for a drink and he was kicking some seriously great old school beats tonight.

'til next week bitches,
Prez

Ice girls

And why dont we have ice girls like this??

Text of the week

We made it

I know some of you were worried, that since I didn't post yesterday maybe we didn't make it back to the States. We did even though the ride home was almost 4 hours longer.

Lets see what I learned in Canada:
1. Can you go wrong with a Vanilla ice shirt, when Vanilla is wearing the same shirt:

2. People love belt buckles:

3. No matter what country you are in. White bitches love brothers.
4. The Boston area needs a Buffalo Wild Wings for watching Sunday football.
5. When in Rome:

6. I now know how things start and end. I don't know what is worse.
7. After bitching about the lack of table taps in Boston we found them North of the Border:

8. The Canadians are a laid back bunch and service is slow. Expect that if you are visiting.
9. I am not the only one geared up for the Bruins:

10. Some people should not be allowed to wear sweat pants in NH.
11. Respect it:

12. Montreal smoked meat sandwiches are no joke. It is like a cross between corned beef, pastrami and smoked bbq brisket. I mean its amazing.
13. I have officially seen someone make it SPRINKLE!
14. Eating only breakfast at 10 am and going strong till 4 am is taxing on the body.
15. I wouldn't recommend eating this:

16. I guess you can't deposit foreign cash into an ATM. WTF!!
17. A social network is a whole lot like getting ice time at a rink.
18. Whatever your thing is - THATS YOUR THING!
