I'm just curious. If I buy this t-shirt and wear it around Boston on a Saturday afternoon what exactly would happen? Anybody willing to pay me to do this? I guess the reaction would depend on how the Patriots are doing. I'm of the opinion that the Pats will be just fine and have a 7-1 record going into the tougher part of the schedule. If that's the case I think I'd be OK. But if the Pats lose to the Jets this weekend and then I walk around with this shirt on I may have some trouble. Let me know what you think.

Sidenote: with Whitley gone for the next week is there anything you want me to talk about? I have a few ideas but not a weeks worth.

Vacation time

Vacation starts at 3:00 today! I am sure when I get back from the Steele city there will be tons to blog about. Hope the Pittsburgh Zoo is better than Franklin Park Zoo or the Stone Zoo.

ADSL Season 3 - Fantasy Football Update

A new football season is upon us, and with that comes ADSL Season 3. Wild Angels justified their preseason #1 ranking with 132.5 points in week 1. Wild Angels was led by Michael Turner who turned in 220 rushing yards and 2 rushing TD’s (39.5 points). The Slippery Wizards may have the deepest team in the league putting up a respectable 101.5 points from their starters and 108 points from the bench. The Wizards will need some good game day managerial decisions to finish in the money at the end of the season.  

Defending Champs had a rough start to the season putting up 63.5 points and even less production on the bench. Champs have historically been big spenders on the free agent market and are looking to hit the waiver wire early and often. Despite a preseason last place ranking don’t look past the Defending Champs they have finished in the money three years in a row.

In the immortal words of George Costanza: “It became very clear to me sitting out there today that every decision I've made in my entire life has been wrong. My life is the complete opposite of everything I want it to be. Every instinct I have, in every aspect of life, be it something to wear, something to eat - it's all been wrong.” This weeks Costanza Award goes to Madd Niggerish. Niggerish left 107 points on the bench while his starters could only manage 76.5 points.

So Buffet was well, BUFFETT! If you have never been then I suggest you get your ass there next year. Lots of drinking. Lots of ladies showing breast - MOTHER/DAUGHTER TITTYS on the Huge Ice Luge. Lots of laughs. People go all out for it...building bars, bringing sand, there was a disco club. Its pretty much insane. Washer toss was the bomb, Thanks Smiddy for letting us borrow it. Mike and Chrissy are currently the champs and will take on all challenges.
The rain held off until the start of the show, which was really good.

Went down to Coops on Saturday for the fights. It may be time for Chuck Lidell to retire. He GOT KNOCKED THE FUCK OUT.

The Pats started their season yesterday and Brady's knee got wrecked. Lets see how many people jump off the bandwagon.

Sons of Anarchy Review

So for those of you that stayed up and watched the new show Sons of Anarchy on FX what did you think? I have to say that I will be watching this show every Weds, or at least i say that right now. The show takes place in Charming, CA and is about a motorcycle gang who trys to protect its town from drug dealers, and other motorcycle gangs. While doing so the Sons of Anarchy are involved in illegal gun trading.
The show revolves around a 30 year old man named Jax, whose father and friend Clay (who is the current President of the MC Club) started the Sons of Anarchy MC club. Jax's father, John Teller was killed years earlier, leaving one of his co-founders and friends, Clay, in charge of the club and also to remarry his wife and matriarch of the club, Gemma(Katie Sagal). After one show the critics are calling it the west coast version of the Sopranos. I wouldn't go that far just yet it has only been one episode, not that it wasn't a good one but those are some big shoes to fill. Last nights episode was a good one, however the 2nd episode seems to be one for the ages. The drama seems to unfold in the 2nd episode a bit more than the pilot, shows drama is basically about a family of criminals who are at odds with the law, rival gangs, and while at the same time face their own family drama.
So with all this said, I have to say the show has some promise with a good cast and look forward to watching next weeks episode. So check it out on FX and feel free to write what you think of it!!

90120 (2.0) Review

90210 (2.0)

So the show basically rocked!!! And 4.9 million people watched it along with me…the CW declared it as the highest rated scripted series premiere in the history of the network!!! Meaning it beat GOSSIP GIRL!!! It was great we got to see some old favorites and were introduced to new characters that we will learn more about and fall in love with.

New Characters:

Ethan: the “hottie” kind of Dylan Mckayish but not really, he is hot like Dylan but is more of a jock than Mr. Mckay ever was……….In the opening scene is getting blown by a skank while sitting in the drivers seat of his car parked outside of good old West Bev!! It will be interesting to see his character develop because he was involved with Naomi (Kind of like Kelly Taylor, but has an eye on Annie (the new Brenda).

Annie and Dixon Wilson: Annie and Dixon were moved here from KS so that there father could take care of his drunk of a mother (Lucille from Arrested Development).
The House that they move into looks like the Spelling Manor….it is HUGE! Annie is into school plays (like Brenda was) and Dixon is into Journalism and Lacrosse.
Dixon was adopted 8 years ago by the Wilson family and is a perfect match…..

Erin “please just call me” SILVER- is totally turned around since we last have seen her. She is now this trashy whorish type of girl who has her own blog to come down on all the “popular” kids at school. I personally love her, she doesn’t care what anyone thinks and she is a rebel…….she has a lot of David in her personality…………

Naomi- she is a beast!!!!! She is the type that gets everything that she wants and her parents spoil her like crazy. I see a bit of Kelly Taylor in her, she seems like she is going to be the bratty kid who gets everything that she wants and then does a 180 in a matter of a few weeks………I feel as though her character may be one of those ones that you will be cheering on to change throughout the season. But we shall see…..

Mr. and Mrs. Wilson- He is the new high school principal, unlike Mrs. T he is more hard on the kids and he seems to get really involved with their lives and stuff…maybe this is because he has some skeletons in his closet ……. Aunt Becky is a fashion photographer who is overwhelmed with the whole 90210 type of living……

Enough of the characters lets get to the details…..

So opening scene is the Ethan is getting a BJ in his car and Annie spots him…there eyes meet and Ethan is totally embarrassed by the whole thing. (Side note: Annie and Ethan know each other from a past summer that Annie spent visiting her gandmother)……..Annie friends Naomi the school BEOYCH…..who is having her SUPER NOT SO SWEET SIXTEEN birthday party in a few days. The girls instantly connect (I think it is because later on we find out that they are kind of related. Another time another story…)

Silver also takes a liking to Annie, who I think is much more suited for Annie. Silver and Naomi hate each other, yet they were best friends and broke up as BFF in 8th grade. But before there breakup at around 12/13 years old they got matching tramp stamp Chinese symbol “friendship” tattoos.

Side note, Annie (age 15) goes on a date with some Hottie from the drama club in a PJ (private jet) to San Fran. They are just going to dinner; let’s just say Aunt Becky was not pleased to find out about this date when she found the matches that Annie took from the restaurant in her pocket when she was doing the laundry!!

Dixon wants to play on the lacrosse team badly!! He tries out proves that he is all that and a bag of chips and makes the team. This makes George (totally Steve Sanders) pissed and he starts a fight with Dixon . Dixon takes the blame for the fight and is kicked off the team. Ethan feels bad and tells the truth about the fight causing George to get kicked off and Dixon back on the team. Again, Dixon gets kicked off and let back onto the team but the story is boring, and I will move on…….

Enters Kelly Taylor…she is stunning…the new guidance counselor at West Bev. She said that the whole fashion world didn’t work out for her and she decided to use her psychology major that she got at Cal U. I was watching this show with a bunch of 90210 (1.0) people and we all screamed…and screamed louder for Nat He is still at the Peach Pit now called “THE PIT”, and Hannah Zuckerman-Valasquez (Andrea’s kid) is the schools anchor woman, Brenda don’t mess with me Walsh was incredible…I got so excited that I even hit my sister’s friend in the face because I was jumping up and down…I digress……we find out that Brandon is in Belize and that Kelly has a 4.5 year old named Sammie. Kelly was on the phone with the boy’s father, but like the old 90210 they are keeping us in suspense on whether is Brandon or Dylan the father.

Kelly and Brenda had such great on screen chemistry it was beautiful. I loved seeing them back on the screen again.

The new gang that will be hanging at “The Pit” were great, definitely seem like they will grow on me…. I mean it was cheesy but come on we love cheese because it is 90210……I can’t wait to tune in next week……Jackie Taylor is looking like the hot mess that she is and is fighting with Kelly over “Silver”……….

Hopefully Brenda will get more air time next week. She is the reason I am watching the show. She is Brenda Freaking Walsh…

Also who is in with me to start a petition to get Tori Spelling Back??? Hell lets get them all back, because we all know that 90210 is nothing with out Brando!!!

Countdown to Vacation

So the boys and I are heading to Pittsburgh next Thursday. I am looking forward to the baseball game,The Zoo, and just hanging out.

Chuck put the dart team back together and last night was our 1st match. First of all, we are NOT in mid-season dart form. Second a few people dropped out - so we are scrambling for some new meat, you want in let me know. Lastly we lost 6-5 last night but really - 1st match of the season, short 2 guys, and Not enough beers.
Only 13 more weeks to go. If you just want to come out and hang out on a random Tuesday night you are more than welcome to do that too.

Summer is over

The summer is over - that means Jimmy Buffett must be in town this week, baseball is winding down and football/hockey are about to rev up.
1. We will be at Saturday's Buffett show...tailgating and getting bombed, if you are also there stop by and the 1st funnel is on me!!
2. The Sox play Tamba Bay next week and then again the week after, could be 2 huge series.
3. BC won 21-0 this past Saturday and they have their home opener on Saturday.
4. The Pats kick off the season Sunday versus Kansas City, lets just hope Brady is back on the field.
5. The Bruins training camp starts in a little over 2 weeks, September 18th. I mean what else could we want?

Buried in a Boston Globe hockey notebook column this weekend was this wonderful line from Boston Bruins defenseman Andrew Ference, regarding former Calgary Flames teammate Jarome Iginla and fellow Bruin Milan Lucic:





"He watches a lot of hockey, so he knows about Milan. We said we're going to set up a Lucic-Phaneuf fight. When we go to Calgary, Jarome said he's going to do his part to get Dion all fired up. We'll get Looch the same way. No problem."

The Globe indicated that Ference was joking, which is a damn shame. We agree with Scotty Hockey: "The NHL needs more stuff like this to not only happen, but to come to light. It builds rivalries and draws fans."

There's a difference between anticipating a bloodbath between two teams coming off a nasty fight-filled game and building anticipation around a potential battle between two charismatic heavyweights. We're always debating what, exactly, made "the good 'ole days" of NHL hockey more appealing (in some ways) than the current product. When's the last time you tuned into a game because two heavyweights might drop the gloves? Because there were thousands of fans 20 years ago that would make time to see Bob Probert take on his latest contender; on the off chance he'd lose, the anticipation would be even greater for the rematch (like his infamous battles with Troy Crowder, then of the New Jersey Devils). Same goes for Tie Domi, or before him guys like Nick Fotiu or Dave Schultz. It didn't overshadow the game; it just added to the excitement.

Fight critics label the intentional staging of high-profile fights as "circus acts" or attempt to paint them as harbingers of hockey's deteriorating honor code. Which is, as usual, more rhetoric about what the pacifists want hockey to be rather than what it is or what the majority of fans appreciate about it.

Here's the bottom line: We didn't realize the Bruins played the Flames on Oct. 30 before Ference mentioned the potential for a Milan Lucic-Dion Phaneuf throwdown. Now, it's on our calendar.

My Pick:
Well I was 50/50 between Brady and Jax. Jax should have a huge year assuming Orlando Pace stays healthy. But I couldn’t pass on Brady, even if he has a big drop off from last season he still throws 35 TD’s and 3500 yards.

Reach of the Round:
It’s hard to say any 1st round pick is a reach but the Defending Champs reached a little for Addai. Some boards had him going as low as the 6th pick. Still a solid pick that should generate consistent points every week.

Steal of the Round:
Smidawgs getting Jax with the 6th pick could be the steal of the draft. He’s capable of rushing for 1500 yards with 500 receiving yards and 12 to 15 TD’s. Nice start for the Smidawgs!

I knew I was going receiver since there were no RB’s on the board worthy of a 2nd round pick. Edwards, Colston, Johnson, and Fitzy were on the board. I was a little concerned about Derek Anderson (concussion) throwing to Edwards so I went with Fitzy. As long as Warner is throwing to him he should have a big year.

Reach of the Round:
The Nameless Few selection of Larry Fitzgerald is a reach at 15 since Edwards and Colston were still on the board. Most draft boards had Fitzgerald ranked as the 5th or 6th best WR in the draft. We’ll know by the middle of the season if this was a mistake.

Steal of the Round:
The steal of this entire draft could be Marshawn Lynch at the 12 spot for Madd Niggerish. Lynch fell due to some questions about the offensive line but this guy put up 14 points per game last year. All drafts had him going by the 7th or 8th pick and some as high as the 5th pick.

My Pick:
So I needed a running back and I was more than happy to take Graham. He’s not flashy but he’ll get me 12 to 15 points a week on a consistent basis. He may lose some 3rd down touches but Tampa Bay likes to run the ball and let the defense keep the game close.

Reach of the Round:
A tight end in the 3rd round???? Are you serious? Granted Witten is the best TE but in the 3rd round. He would’ve been there when it came back to you JSL. Witten’s average draft position was around 50 going no earlier than the 44th spot. You know it’s a reach when this didn’t start a run on the TE position.

A very close second for Reach of the Round was Larry Johnson. But I don’t want to speak badly of Thanks4Gore since I plan on doing a trade that I will later regret. Kevin Smith for Lee Evans??? Call me!

Steal of the Round:
Smidawgs pulls off another steal with Willie Parker at the 26th spot. Everybody talks about Peterson but it was Parker who was leading the league in rushing before he broke his leg late last year. As long as Mendenhall doesn’t take away his red zone touches this pick could be the steal of the draft.

My Pick:
My original plan was to go best available at each position but when the run on TE’s hadn’t started yet I figured I could take a chance and wait one more round to get my TE. I was thinking about taking Thomas Jones in the 3rd round if Graham wasn’t there so this worked out for me. But somewhere in the back of my mind I’m thinking be careful what you wish for.

Reach of the Round:
Everybody picked real well in this round so I’m not sure if there is a 100% reach so I’m going call it a tie between Sflabo and the Defending Champs. Taking Calvin Johnson and Roy Williams respectively, we won’t know until the end of the season who made the wrong choice. Williams averaged going with the 48th pick no higher than 43. Johnson averaged going with the 58th pick and no higher than 41 in mock drafts. My gut tells me that Sflabo may have gotten the better player.

Steal of the Round:
Thanks4Gore had to take McGahee. Anytime you are relying on LJ as your #1 back you need some insurance. McGahee has some injury questions but he’s still a steal with the 31st pick. Might be a good idea to handcuff him later on though.

My Pick:
This is where the draft gets interesting. I could’ve gone with my 3rd RB here so I have some depth at the position or my 2nd WR but I really didn’t like what was available. So I stuck with my plan and took Winslow. Gates was available but his foot concerned me and Winslow is a WR in the TE position.

Reach of the Round:
Chris Cooley for Madd Niggerish is a little bit of a reach in the 5th round. Gates, Gonzalez, and Clark were still available so the TE pick could’ve waited until it came back to you on the next round.

Steal of the Round:
JSL Enterprises may have grabbed a gem with Cotchery. Favre always has a go to receiver starting with Sterling Sharpe then Bubba Franks and then Donald Driver. The only question is will Cotchery or Coles be his go to guy. My guess is it will be Cotchery which makes this the steal of the round.

I had my QB, TE and 2 starting RB’s. I needed my 2nd WR before it got too late in the draft. Ward was the selection since his steady production year in and year out will get me the 10 points a game I need. I seriously considered taking Maroney here but I have no idea what the Pats are going to do this year with the 20 RB’s they have on the roster.

Reach of the Round:
OH MY GOD!!! Not only is this the Reach of the Round but it is hands down the reach of the draft. Let’s see with the 6th round selection it’s always a good idea to take a guy who is the 4th offensive option and is coming back from a hamstring injury. I had this guy ranked as the 49th best WR which means I wasn’t going to draft him. Vincent Jackson in the 6th round? SERIOUSLY? I guess Smidawgs is making a trip to San Diego and pulling a Tony Harding on Chambers, Gates, and LT.

Steal of the Round:
I’m still not over the Vincent Jackson pick but lets continue. Thanks4Gore pulled off his second Steal of the Round with Michael Turner. I thought he would go by the 3rd round so getting him in the 6th round is a great pick.

My Pick:
DAMN IT…DAMN IT….DAMN IT!!!!! Maroney or Smith…Maroney or Smith. Probably the toughest pick I had all day. Screw it I always pick a rookie RB that comes out of nowhere and does well. Smith is my horse this year, he’s the hands down starter for Detroit and they are going to emphasize the run this year. Teams can’t stack the box to protect against the run since the WR’s are so good. I hope you break a leg Mr. Maroney.

Reach of the Round:
Dallas defense over the Minny defense? B-Money must be a huge Zach Thomas fan. Just kidding, it’s not much of a difference between Minny and Dallas but anytime a defense is taken before the 10th round it’s a reach. THAT’S A RULE!!!!

Steal of the Round:
Watch out for JSL Enterprises this year boys and girls they are starting to rack up the Steals of the Round. Taking Maroney in the 7th round is a great pick. Yes he’s gonna lose some touches but he is a starting RB for a team that should score a ton of points. Nice pick Jewfrey.

My Pick:
This is the pick I’m most disappointed in. I think Dallas has a huge offensive year and puts up a ton of points. Crayton should be open deep this year with TO getting double coverage and Witten getting the other safety covering him. I can try and justify this pick but he’s still the 4th option for Dallas. He’s on the block if anyone is interested.

Reach of the Round:
Couple of candidates for Reach of the Round. Minny defense is a candidate, Ronnie Brown isn’t even a starter, Tony Scheffler lost his starting job but I need to go with Madd Niggerish selection of Aaron Rodgers. He would’ve been there in round 9 and maybe round 10. Everyone had their starting QB so another QB wasn’t coming off the board until the 10th or 11th round. Also Warner, Cutler and Favre were still on the board. I like Rodgers but it was a reach at pick 72.

Steal of the Round:
Smidawgs pulls off his third Steal of the Round. Smiddy is trying to make up for the Vincent Jackson pick and may have done that with a solid starting RB for his 8th round selection. Lendale may be fat, slow and lazy but he puts up 11 points per game and that’s not bad for this late in the draft.

My Pick:
I violated a rule with this pick. If you make a bad pick don’t try and over-compensate and make up for it with your next pick. I was so unhappy with Crayton that I forced myself to take another WR. I like Donald Driver but I don’t know who the go to guy is for Aaron Rodgers. This also filled out my WR’s which took out a bunch of sleeper WR’s that I had planned on taking towards the end of the draft (Eddie Royal, Burleson, Bryant Johnson, and Desean Jackson).

Reach of the Round:
Watching Smidawgs make picks is like watching a VERY SLOW moving roller coaster. Two Steals of the Round so far to go along with the worst pick of the draft. We can now add a Reach of the Round award to Smidawgs collection. This was a close call since everybody was taking defense but the Indy defense over Pitt, Seattle, Chicago, Tamba Bay, Green Bay? Really?

Steal of the Round:
Since only 5 position players were taken this round it’s a little more difficult to determine a Steal of the Round but I have to go with Thanks4Gore selection of Selvin Young. Even though it’s Denver and we all know Shanahan takes great enjoyment in screwing around with fantasy football owners. Selvin Young is the #1 RB on a team that runs the ball a ton.

My Pick:
I usually use my 4th RB as a back-up in case of injury and to give me coverage for bye weeks. I want a guy who gets 3rd down touches and runs behind a runner who is injury prone. I had two choices here: Chester Taylor or Lorenzo Booker. I went with Taylor because he’s a proven commodity and Peterson runs so hard that he punishes himself and defenders. Peterson is my choice for biggest fantasy disappointment of the year. So I like my chances having his back-up.

Reach of the Round:
This rounds reach is pretty easy to pick out. DEFENDING CHAMPS pick of Anthony Gonzalez was a reach here. ‘Experts’ had been talking this guy up but I don’t get it. He’s the 5th option on a team that has a banged up QB that lost his long time center for 6 weeks.

Steal of the Round:
What a round!. Favre, Williams, Moss, Fred Taylor, Jay Cutler are all great picks. But the Steal of the Round goes to Madd Niggerish for picking DeAngelo Williams. He’s looked great in the preseason and he’s the #1 RB for Carolina. Despite all the hype over Jonathan Stewart, Williams will still be the man for the Panthers.
