153 and counting...

Exhibiting unusual perseverance and determination, a man from Portsmouth, N.H., chalked up his 153rd arrest over the weekend, just a week after getting out of jail.

Paul Baldwin, 49, told a judge Monday that he will plead guilty to his three newest charges: possession of an open container of alcohol, trespassing and slugging a guy in the face. Police described him as a "leech on the resources of the community."

Baldwin had just been released from a one-year jail sentence for shoplifting a 24-oz. can of beer (which, at $1.99, was already a steal). According to the Foster's Daily Democrat newspaper, Baldwin's rap sheet dates back to 1984 and includes 152 previous arrests, 75 citations, eight trespassing charges and 17 aliases.

We're hoping the insensitive police who continue to arrest him are at least planning balloons and cake for arrest #200.
