Sawed off shotgun

Georgia Man Arrested In Gun Incident At Foxwoods

Mashantucket — An Atlanta, Ga., songwriter was arrested Tuesday night after police say they found a sawed-off shotgun in his hotel room at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods.

Police charged Matthew Weir Humphreys, 47, with possession of a sawed-off shotgun and breach of peace.

Humphreys has three albums to his credit, including the 2001 release of Suicidal Cowboy.

Police said at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday they found the weapon in Humphreys' hotel room. The gun was disassembled and ammunition was found in his truck at the MGM Grand garage.

State Trooper William Tate, a state police spokesman, would not say what led police to Humphreys and his room.

Humphreys was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in New London Superior Court but was instead taken to an area hospital after police determined that he needed medical attention.

Tate did not disclose why Humphreys needed hospitalization.

He is being held on a $100,000 bond.

Nothing good can come from having a sawed-off shotgun at a casino. And by nothing I mean incarceration, hospitalization, and most likely a straight jacket. I can only imagine that this dude was going to try and rob either a patron of Foxwoods/MGM or the casino itself. I don't know what the law is in Connecticut for possession of a sawed-off but I am thinking this dudes FUCKED!
