Heat wave

Look at this we are gonna have 5 days over 35... talking bout a heat wave.

This is what I learned this weekend (12 pack version):
1. The spicy omelette sandwich from Dunks isn't that spicy.
2. Boston Suburbs - Does yours suck?
3. Some weekends you just need a sweatpants, T shirt and couch day.
4. Thanks Boston Bruins for ONLY going up 2 dollars a ticket next  year.
5. Congrats to Coach Ervin Flowers and the Cathedral High boys team for making the championship game, tonight at the Garden, 4:00 pm start if you want to show your support. Cathedral Alum TK will probably be there.
6. This whole Android 5.0 lollipop operating system kind of sucks.
7. Red Sox opening day is only 28 days away. Maybe when baseball actually starts, we can all feel like winter is over.
8. Star Wars is getting its first LGBT character.
9. For all you dog lovers.
10. Bill Smiddy is gonna be a Boston cop?
11. I am bringing back the term "shit stain", you fucking bunch of shit stains.

We all need help,

in one way or another. Some people are too proud to ask or just too stubborn.

This is what I learned this weekend:
1. KKaties has 1/2 priced wings and trivia on Monday nights. Why haven't we done this yet?
2. The Border cafe is cheap as fuck.
3. The Equalizer was a pretty dope ass movie.
4. Mike G is alive, he has a house rented for snow mobiling if anyones interested. He is also planning a night out at Foxwoods.
5. Little know fact that Jeffrey is great at changing windshield wipers and changing a flat in record time.
6. Chrissy is way into reviewing things for the blog. He sent me a review of the croissant donut. I will post it later so that its not buried.
7. Refinancing your home shouldn't be all that stressful.
8. I heard a rumor that Mike Foley is really settling into that NC life and isn't planning to come home.
9. Anyone have any home remedies or anything to get wine out of a rug??
10. Sometimes the weekend doesn't seem long enough.
11. Is anyone having a superbowl party?
12. Mario throws one hell of a bender. TK should of made the trip to the North shore.
13. Jeffrey it's ok to let everyone know you are drinking Bud heavy now.

15. Looks like there will be a new Dot Day bowl off champion. Steven Whitley is in a league and can no longer participate.

This is what I hate right now:
1. People who break plans.
2. Why you try something new at your favorite place to eat and it sucks.
3. The god damn hiccups.
4. When I am sweating but my feet are cold as hell.
5. Overtalkers, as in people who talk over you to try and prove their point.

It was a battle - a 59 minute battle

It was like the Thunderdome, 2 men enter one man leaves type shit:

 A battle of  man vs a 3 lb burger. In this corner we have Mike "Flounder" Foley, Chris "Boom Boom" Leaden and Chrissy "I paid for it so I am eating it all" MacPhail.

Ian, the catering manager running this shit show at Fuddruckers said the total weight of the burger - patty, cheese, bacon, and bun was 5 total lbs.

Out of the gate Chrissy started with a furious pace - half the burger was gone in 6 minutes. Leaden went for more of a slow and steady wins the race approach. Meanwhile, Foley was methodically slicing and dicing his way to a win.

Here is what Foley had left. When he realized half way through, that he had no chance he wrapped up what was left and called it a day.

Effort: C+ 
Results: C

The tortoise did not win this race. Leaden left around 1 lbs left (that's beef, cheese, bacon and bun).

Look at the size of that fucking burger:

Chrissy had 3/4ths of the burger done with in a half an hour. After a quick puke with 15 minutes to go he tried to finish the last of it but another dash to the bathroom with 5 minutes left was in order. After his second puke, and with a minute to spare he finished off the last of it)

Slacking

Sorry that I didn't post yesterday. I was severely slacking. It also helps that Chrissy is on vacation, so he wasn't bitching at me to post. He must be preoccupied with house work, building a sex room and trying to make baby #2.

This is what I learned this weekend:
1. We raised $1666 for Dana Farber through T shirt sales and donations. If Chrissy collects the rest of his money from the bet it should be another $250 bucks that I could send in this year or just wait till next years and add it to the total. The 6th Annual Mustache Pub Crawl is Saturday, May 18th, 2013.
2. Rounds of shots should never approach $60 unless you are getting at least 10 of them!
3. Apple is the worlds most valuable brand followed by IBM, Google, Mcdonalds and then Microsoft.

23. Congrats to Mike "Prez" Foley on winning 1st place in his division in the Norfolk County Classic. Fucking shit up at darts on Tuesdays and Thursdays then killing it up at Presidents Golf course. What a week for the guy who looks like Roger Goodell. SPEECH!!

24. Jeffrey has a man crush on Jeb's brothers Wendell and Zach.

Don't forget darts tonight at the Southside Tavern. Look forward to some of you guys coming out for drinks and shots.

Darts Update Round 1 part 2

In the second day of the round 1 playoffs we had our backs against the wall. We started the evening in a 6-6 tie in this race to 13 wins. We have sucked all year in 501 so it was going to be an uphill battle in the crickets and the early singles. We were also missing Mark and Jeff but the games must go on. 

501: Won  1 & Lost 2
Shawn & I jumped on early and built a good lead. We were fading in the end but hit the winning dart first to set the tone for the night. Match score 7-6

Brighto & Jared played well and it was close all game. Both teams got stuck on a tough out and the other team hit it first. 7-7

Jeb & Derek took too long to get in and could not mount a comeback and we fell to 7- 8 in the overall. 7-8


Cricket: Won  2 - Lost 1

Supa & Jared got off to a fast start and let them back into the game late. S&J really turned it up late in the game to take it down and tie it up at 8-8.

Tim & SL got out to a commanding lead early. The other team hit some screwy darts to make it a game but TB hit a double cork to stop the momentum and followed it up with the 3rd cork on the next throw to end it. 9-8

Me & Jeb played good for 3/4 of the match. We were right in it until the opponent hit 2 triples to take a lead. It proved to be too much to overcome. 9-9


301: Won 4 & Lost 2
TB took a lead in game 1 but let it get close. His opponent had a chance to steal it but Brighto took it out. In game 2 he jumped right on built a 180 point lead but struggled on the out. They both had shots to win and TB wanted it more. 10-9

Jeb spotted a 275 point lead and when he finally got in he really pounded it down. He made possibly the biggest comeback ever and he hit the out on his first throw to take it away. In game 2 he got on first and got out to a 50 point lead. He ran it down fast and wasted no time in hitting the winning dart for a huge win. 11-9

SL- I scored so I was unable to take notes but SL continued his run at the MVP and won it in 2 games. 12-9

Jared played a man on a mission who did not miss one dart. Jared had no chance in this one and took a tough loss but we were still in the match. 12-10

Supa Won the first, lost the second and lost the 3rd to make it 12-11.

I played the final match and it was Win and move on or lose and go into a 3 game extra playoff. I played the same guy on Tuesday and it was a great match. All three games were close and we both played well. End result was a Win, a Loss and a Win to seal the deal. 13-11

Final score 7  Wins & 5 losses which gave us a 13 to 11 victory in the match. If it came down to the tiebreaker we would have dominated.  

Next week it looks like we will be playing at the Southside Tavern in Quincy on Tuesday and in Brockton on Thursday. Please find some time to stop by as we could use the support! I know many of you will be trying to recover from the Mustache Pub Crawl and what better way to do it but by having a few midweek beers.

Darts (Trophy Night edition)

In honor of Tyler Seguin winning the Bruins 7th player award, I have to give the Fan of the Week nod to Chrissy. Not only did he show up before the match started, but he managed to hang in there all night and was even the last one to leave the bar. His heckling skills were in mid season form and he definitely screwed up our team more than the other team but at least it was entertaining. Due to the numerous texts, e-mails and comments complaining about the FOTW, this is the last time I will mention it. Congrats Chrissy, the trophy retires in your hands.

Now on to the matches:

501: Won 2 and 1
I was a little rusty after taking last week off and I pulled my partner Derek down with me to lose the first match.

Shawn & Mark played a close one and outlasted the other team to even things up.

Brighto & Jared won in a blowout. They came within 10 points of shutting them out and it set the tone for the night.

Cricket: Won 2 and 1
Supa P & Jeb had to endure several scoring delays and won their match easily.

Shawn & I started out slow, grinded it out in the middle and turned it up late to grab the victory.

Mark & Jared got involved in a point fest and that usually spells disaster for our team. They made it close by hitting a bunch of corks late but came up short.

301 Won 5 and 1
P took down game 1 easily and jumped out to a big lead in game 2. It was close in the end but he got it done.

Brighto was 1 dart away from a shut out in game 1 but he struggled to find the out dart. He let her back in it and in no time she was 1 dart from a win. Brighto finally took it down just in time. In game 2 they were neck and neck and it was her turn to close it out. In the rubber match he built a slim lead early and came alive in the middle. She fought back and had a shot at the win but Bright was not going to be denied.

Derek kept it close in game 1 but lost to a great throw. In game 2 he had a tough time getting in and barely avoided the shut out. He rallied back and had several chances to win but could not close the deal.

Jeb built a 150 point lead in game 1 and let it get close but hit the out before his opponent had a shot. In game 2, he again got a lead and this time he never looked back.

I played well closing out game 1 from 115 with a trip 19, single 18 & double 20. I lost a close one in game 2 and squeaked out the victory in game 3.

Jared got on fast and built a 150 point lead in the first game. It was close in the end but Jared hit the out. Game 2 was another close game start to finish. He stepped up secured the win.

Jeb sporting the 2 sweater look (yes 1 was a V neck of course) spent more time arguing with his opponent than throwing darts. It might have had something to do with the heckler but who knows. Just like in his cricket game he won the game quickly.

Final Score was a 9-3 WIN and this is just the kind of victory we needed to position us nicely for the second half playoff charge.

Darts Week 1

The "Repeat Offenders - DTF" are back for another run at the MMDL state title and we had our 1st match last night. This was not a good start to the year when only 4 of the roster players thought it was important enough to make opening day! Also, we played against one of the historically better teams and being short handed proved to be to much of a hill to climb. On the bright side, we already have a candidate for Rookie of the Year. Straight from South Bend, Notre Dame's finest Kodiak Killer, Kelvin Barrister played very well. He was an instrumental part of 1 of the 3 wins that we were able to muster. We expect good things from this guy.

Now for the match details:

We lost the 2 - 601's, Won the middle cricket game and lost the first and third to go down 4-1.

We were looking like we might make a good comeback when we won the 1st singles, but we were only able to take 1 of the next 5 - 301 matches to fall 8-3.

The good news it we have 13 more weeks to dig ourselves out of the week 1 hole, and I am confident that with a full squad, we can compete with any team in this league. Next week we are playing at the Centre Bar so if you are out looking for some fun and laughs, please feel free to drop by.

As we get deeper in the season the posts and the players should get better but we are all still shaking off the rust.

Hip Hip Hooray

I made it, barely, another Opening day in the books. My day started out at noon and I ended up passed out by 9:00pm.



Some highlights of the day:
1. The Longhorn Steak house food sucks. Maybe they we having a bad day but man it was terrible.
2. The hook up at Tequila Rain was sickening, when you roll with Jackie Moon you roll like kings.
3. The fly over to end the opening day ceremonies was electric. I still have goose bumps.
4. The seats were dope as shit!(Does anyone say DOPE AS SHIT anymore?)
5. The players coming through the crowd was very WWE-ish, and I didn't like it one bit.
6. Josh Beckett looked to be in mid-season form, his shit was nasty.
7. Popeyes Chicken is totally underrated.
8. The Bruins looked sloppy and Manny Fernandez BLOWS!
9. Turning around to the smallish Indian man sitting behind me, giving him the thumbs up and shaking his hand for having the sweetest stache of the day, WAS PRICELESS!

The dart team pulled out a 6-5 win on Bob V's 40th Bday!! So Happy belated Birthday Bob V!
